Refreshing opening suites

From time to time it's handy (and with extensive use maybe even necessary) to refresh the opening suite(s) one is using for eng-eng testing. I have written a small util that just does that. It rests on the assumption that grandmasters above 2600 or 2700 elo don't make big mistakes in the first 10 mo...

Re: Engines that won't work with CuteChess

Thanks, I can get them to work fine in other guis. I want to use them specifically with the cute chess command line interface though. With older versions don't try the -concurrency option. Thanks, I am not using that. Can you post the cutechess batchfile, I then can try to emulate. One other thing ...

Re: Engines that won't work with CuteChess

With older versions don't try the -concurrency option. That looks like a workaround for a race condition in the UCI parser. That kind of bug may hit engines that use a dedicated input thread and discard UCI commands other than isready/stop/quit during search if not carefully implemented. A strong h...

I hope you realize Benjamin 2.0 isn't a normal engine optimized for elo performance but (as the webpage states) a Tactical Analysis Engine for quickly discovering tactical shots estimated 200-250 elo less when playing games.

Nevertheless good luck with your tournament.

SCID with Knowledge Base

Knowledge Base is the work of months carefully building a quality Polyglot database with analyzed positions by top engines, mainly by Stockfish 12 and Stockfish 13. The average quality of of the current 66 million analyzed positions is around ~3300 elo. The database contains a wealth of information...

Re: Polyglot - merge-book oddity

Well, I uploaded the already compiled fixed version from HGM here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B5OCkLgTmqWJUGJJcE15NjVyY2M I will remove this upload now, as HGM has done more essential fixes later anyway. If there is still interest I could compile the newer fixes and upload again. Just ...

Re: Polyglot - merge-book oddity

Do you mean to say there are actually pieces that would prefer the old behavior, where positions in book 1 completely eclipse these from book 2? This is not what one would generally consider 'merging'. It is more like a 'replace' function. I am just worried that folks who did not read this thread w...
