Re: Mediocre v0.5 released

No problems here, using the jar under Arena - it's busy giving Jabba a hard time :) Good to hear. :) It's unfortunate that there always seems to be various Java-related issues for people on new releases. And and you say it's mindboggling that the commercial GUIs have problems with java (bat-files)..

Re: Mediocre v0.5 released

Jim's executables are usually quite a bit stronger, so might be worth waiting for some clarification from him. However, a quick fix that should work would be to add the complete path to your java-directory in Mediocre.bat. (assuming you're on Windows and have Java installed) 1. Find your Java-direct...

Re: Mediocre v0.5 released

Hmm, have you been able to run the jar-version of Mediocre before? Shouldn't be anything different this time around, perhaps you're missing java in you PATH or something similar?

As for Jim's executable I'm having trouble with it as well. Not sure what's up.

Re: Mediocre v0.5 released

Oh, without having confirmed it I know what the problem is. I'm actually corrupting it myself by filtering the binary in my build process. Fixing that and re-releasing. Again, just replace performance.bin and it'll work if you already downloaded it. (performance.bin can be found here ) Edit: I've up...

Re: Mediocre v0.5 released

Hi Jonatan. I seemed to have problems with the supplied performance.bin book. Mediocre opened the book, but didn't play any books moves, as white or black. There were no entries in the log file. It did seem to work with the performance.bin book from my Fruit installation, so maybe it's the book fil...

Mediocre v0.5 released

Mediocre v0.5 is released and available for download. Should be noticably stronger than the previous version (v0.4) and might play quite a bit different since I rewrote a big chunk of the evaluation (probably not adding much in terms of strength though). For anyone messing about in the code it shoul...

Re: FruitFly 1.1

GreKo has really clean code and is in the lower spectra in terms of strength so have some room for improvement.

Re: FruitFly 1.1

(I still have no idea how the author got it to play chess, for instance it has switch...cases in the search. Huge bottle neck) Haven't looked at Smash's code so don't know what switch you're referring to, but e.g. Scorpio has an iterative search rather than recursive (atleast had), that is lots of ...

Re: FruitFly 1.1

Another thing. Most of these programs are post 2009. Fruit came out in 2004. Did you really expect a Fruit type program not to be crushed to pieces? I think you've misunderstood how ratings work. Theoretically you can be crushed to pieces and still get a valid rating, based on how crushed you got. ...
