Re: TCEC Question

Very interesting. I presume it is pretty much all quick play games? This has been observed in 20 minutes +3 seconds time controls. Note that the trend was the opposite back in July 2019, back then Leela was queen, and the openings that were the strongest in Stockfish clones vs Stockfish clones game...

Re: Join the Bullet Chess Campaign

Well, there's maybe no such conception within the chess playing community, but I'll go out on a limb and say the point of the OP is not to popularize chess among chess players  Most of the non-chess players I've talked to about chess do think the game is exclusively played in a way that takes...

SF cant see draw in 8 men TB in diag 1 and 2.

However, SF can see draw in 9 men TB in diag 3.

Both ccc an Tcec have 6 men TB.

Re: Return of Leela gambit! Rook sacrifice in Nimzo in move 7, e5!

In Nimzo Indian defense Novelty, 7. e5N! was seen in computer chess since 2 years ago where a newly trained leela beat Gull. People have tested this position several times and in last TCEC season 17, both Stockfish and Leela ended as draw in both colors. However, today, Allie beat Stockfish with th...

Re: Leela and the curse of not finishing a won match cleanly.

Another possibility is to use stricter endgame counts which subsume the 50-move rule when training. As an example, consider the Thai chess variant, Makruk. It has a host of different counts, which depend on the amount of material left.* Does anyone know if there is a project to apply the LC0 framew...

Re: Rise of the mighty NN

Obviously, Leela can be tricked into positions she has trouble with, but much less so than Stockfish. I'd love to see that. For instance, a line that beats Stockfish's no book at fixed Depth 32. You check what Stockfish will play, you prepare a book line that will beat it. That's it. Because for Le...
