Re: Draw by 3 fold repetition...
Because SF prefers 0.00 over -0.01. How it chooses between 2 0.00 moves? First come, first served. An alpha-beta search does not even get to know that the second move is 0.00 and not <0.00. Depends on the implementation Not when it implements alpha-beta. I recall Rebel Decade used to be able to swi...

Re: M1 Apple Silicon for Chess?
But also the system until now has been on day and night to play my Arena engine tournament... Good consumer SSDs with 500 GB allow about 300 TBW (terabyte written). If you have used up 14% of that, that's 42 TB. With 90 days of usage, that's more than 400 GB written per day, which is huge. There's ...

Re: I Do NOT know why they allow some engine with EGTB and other without in TCEC
I was watching Nemorino playing versus Stockfish and the position was s draw according to Crystal and Stockfish that both use EGTB, but poor Nemorino held Stockfish to a draw up to the very end and the only reason it did NOT ended in a draw was because Nemorino did NOT use EGTB properly  Here...

Re: Are neural nets (the weights file) copyrightable?
My idea is that "the right to distribute something" is not something that is acquired once and then kept forever. You can lose the right to distribute something. If you accept that FF2 is a covered work then the distribution of it is a violation of the GPL-3 license attached to SF. Hence you can no...

Re: Are neural nets (the weights file) copyrightable?
The relevant sentence is this Inclusion of a covered work in an aggregate does not cause this License to apply to the other parts of the aggregate. If we consider the covered work to be SF then FF2 is either an aggregate or it is not. If it is an aggregate then it is ok to distribute it in whatever...

Re: Are neural nets (the weights file) copyrightable?
Indeed it is. And the license goes on to spell out exceptions for aggregate to the previous requirements. What do you mean by that? Still as part of the definition of "aggregate"? Which text are you referring to? If you don't meet the definition of aggregate, then the full requirements are yours to...

Re: Are neural nets (the weights file) copyrightable?
If I take covered work = SF... I don't think you can do that. I think that if you didn't want your NN included in the covered work, you'd achieve this by not using SF in your project. Of course I can do that. People are distributing SF by itself all the time, for which they have permission from the...
