Re: Finding that 'Only Move'

In the initial diagrams in this thread it seems Black is missing the R on H8... had me confused why Qf8 was not decisive until I pushed through the rest of the thread... very nice indeed. edit: My Bad - the Rook suddenly appeared (!) - maybe some strange artifact of my browser displaying the page......

Re: New phpBB Talkchess Forum presentation

I like the new look - it seems cleaner and brighter. I have not missed the search facility - either before or now, but perhaps that is just me.
I do agree it was a bit of a shock (but once I got used to it... ok)

Re: Fen is incomplete

FEN also does not encode other information along the same lines: whether either of the Kings has moved (and moved back for example...) and the same for Rooks (with respect to the legality of castling etc).

Re: Essay on swindling in (computer) chess

Thank you for posting that link - I am (more or less) reading the article now, although Google translate is not very good at the translation. Amazing (to me), it translates the chess move ...Te8 into ...Re8 but in English refers to 'rook' as a 'tower'. The latter is understandable, but the former wa...

Re: Kasparov vs The World

Hello Benoit! I remember following that game in (more or less) real time and recall very clearly the excitement when Irina's suggestion was pretty much ignored - if I recall it was due to some issues she had posting the information in the correct place or timeframe... Anyway, I have the book about t...

Re: Lost Years of opening bookd work?

What sort of media is used to store the file? Is it the computer's hard disk or a usb (thumb) drive or something else? If the file is on a removable drive, have you tried reading the drive on another computer? One thing to try: from file explorer, find the file and right click on the file and displa...
