Re: CEGT - rating lists March 29th 2020

It is a tricky issue. In CCRL we currently treat the GTX1050 and below as single CPU, and the RTX2080 as multiple CPU. I'm not sure there is a right or wrong answer. In reality the GTX1050 is probably in between 1 and 2CPU. But is the CPU version of Leela on the list? That obviously can be single C...

Re: CEGT - rating lists March 29th 2020

This brings up the question of why NNs that require both a GPU and a CPU are even included in a Single Version list, as they require two processors, not one. A normal pc will have several CPU cores but only one GPU, so if a program is mostly GPU-bound then limiting it to only 1 CPU core is only a m...

I'd call this making a mountain out of a molehill.

Re: experiencing Lag in Arena, AMD 3900X build

Caching of 6-men Syzygy tablebases can also cause memory issues when running long time controls and a few cores as I found out. I have 16GB of RAM which I thought was plenty but definitely isn't these days. I stick to 5-men now.

Re: SlowChess Blitz Classic 2.0

I checked the FRC list and I'm happy to see the first external testing results are consistent with what I was hoping. (Was +91 elo when I checked, and I think my results from doing self-play tests at super fast time controls will overestimate differences.) Yes, well remember we use Bayeselo and it ...

- On the plus side, this should be the largest strength increase between versions so far. Scored about +100 elo in 60 + .5 self-play. (Might be less against other engines or at different time controls.)
I'm getting very close to this on the chess960 games played so far.

Hi, I have some problems with hash settings:
engine does not use more than 64 MB for search under Arena 3.5.1
Same with cutechess.

Re: SlowChess Blitz Classic 2.0

I've updated the https://www.3dkingdoms.com/chess/slow.htm with a Slow Chess Blitz Classic 2.0 download. About this release : - This is primarily a strength increase release, mostly from experimenting with learning & eval features. (Also a few minor bug fixes.) - On the plus side, this should be th...

Thanks, there are a few more strategies for overclocking to explore! 8-) It takes time and I'm just starting on my third day.
You could just enjoy it for a month at stock before tinkering, and you may then find you don't need to or want to.
