Similar with shredder.

It makes no sense anymore for serious chess programmers to come out with an original chess engine while the rest clones stockfish (ideas).
Stockfish itself primarily, but then the derivatives as well.

Re: New engine releases & news 2021

Fire 8 does seem to be clearly stronger than Ethereal at FRC though.

Re: larger nets for SF?

But if "...Elo loss from the decreased speed"...would larger nets still be beneficial in certain areas? Maybe for long analysis or LTC (instead of simple engine vs engine quick play matchups)? Dragon has 2 wins in row: FRC and Swiss :) . Now they have updated to 512GB RAM like CCC. Serious hardware.
Congrats to the Komodo team !

As for the 512GB RAM - totally unnecessary, but it looks good.

Re: We are past the stage where the OS has become the virus

It's not Linux that is the problem nowadays. It's the fact that there are applications that people either need or want to use that don't run on Linux. Some examples have been mentioned in his thread: MSOffice Photoshop LightRoom CaptureOne ChessBase Fritz Eizo ColorNavigator Lots of audio / video p...

Re: We are past the stage where the OS has become the virus

The operating system is not the most important piece of software: the applications are. Most users don't buy a computer to run an operating system, they buy it to run applications . Then they choose the operating system that runs most of those applications. In my case, I was contemplating to move o...

Do you mean my avatar's photo? Yes! Unfortunately, he doesn't like BanksiaGUI. Whenever I start working with BSG I have to solve his problem first :D
