Re: Is it stupid to beat a 3.300 chess player elo? No it is

Then programmers should make their programs incompatible with Playchess Fritz interface of bugs. Don't program your chess AI for a wrong interface. Do you understand the idiocy of the thing you said? Playchess is the most popular interface ESPECIALLY for engine matches. Do you really expect a progr...

Re: the vision is lacking

Was it worth "losing" 400 points off Zappa's normal strength? Sounds crazy, but I think it was, since it leaves us with a quite strong 2500-2600 engine that can find amazing ideas, not all sound, but then again so were Tal's moves often in his prime. So, using this example, here is a case of 'less ...

Re: Father, the human win, Houdini 3 lost. Time is Gold. 20

Congratulations! Another fine masterpiece in the legendary Father style. Simply amazing. I hope you can do that again and again, as long as programmers fail to implement the concept of progress properly into their engines. Again, engines have nothing to do with it. It's a problem of the i...

Re: Robodini 1.1 300 games.

I am a bit surprised that you posted a thread on this train wreck. I did those tests before it was 100% sure that Robodini was a RE of Houdini 3 and that it was done and posted by Richard. So I did those to test the similarities and naturally, as you say, it is just Houdini vs. Houdini. As for the ...

Re: Is it stupid to beat a 3.300 chess player elo? No it is

Pablo tried this tactic with crafty on ICC and could not succeed. Superior programming in time management and refusing a WRONG interface. Smart programmer. I say, punish programmers for their wrong designs. Embarrass them with such losses. And how do you do that if the user use EXPLICITLY some kind...

Re: Strange behaviour in Windows 8

The task manager of Windows 8 has a well known (great) bug when using Speedstep(TM) or Cool-n-Quiet(TM).

Idle and load values are not reported correctly in that case.

From what I see you have Speedstep enabled in the BIOS and that's what causes the problem.

Re: Robodini 1.1 300 games.

Naturally it does. However from my tests (just to see how the RE was faithful) at longer time controls the gap increases and the original is stronger by about 20-25 elo. Naturally I didn't play enough games to be sure nor I intend to, but that seems to be the trend. I don't know in 32 bit, maybe the...

Re: I think I'm leaving Chess for good

C) Finally, and this is the crux of the different point of view, some may view competition as in fact very useful, if not essential, to humanity. In fact this is true. Without clash of opposites this universe as we know it will not exist. It is apodeictically implicit in the Absolute to apprehend i...

Re: What should Robert do? (read post first before you vote)

As anyone can easily test for himself by running two engines that accurately and stably report nps, and set affinity with the task manager for them to core 0 and core 1, respectively. OMG. You REALLY have no idea of what the hell you are talking about. Your "test" is a complete idiocy because if th...

Re: Robodini Q&A

You can be sure as hell that you don't speak for me. That Bob does not want to invest time in getting something through your thick skull by doing what took Robert a few months, just to please you, doesn't mean a thing. (Well, it does mean he is not stark raving mad... ) Who do you think you a...
