Re: armageddon in norway chess

Another point against this method: Let's say Caruana has discovered a +.75 innovation on move 12 of a line he is sure to play against Magnu's Sveshnikov...and it is late in the tournament and Fabi is having a poor tournament and faces a Sveshnikov. Why on earth would he waste even going into this (h...

Re: armageddon in norway chess

So Norway chess round 1 concluded with 5 draws, but White won 4-1 in the 10-7 (+3 sec inc from move 60) Armageddon game, Black getting less time but draw oddss. This suggests that Armageddon is valid in longer games than blitz, as was also shown in some U.S. Championship playoff games at odds like ...

Re: WCCC vs TCEC Chess Engine Competitions..

Of the top three contenders, only Komodo has attended recently. Team K...does like it's paper titles. I've said that...it stirs up strong emotions, but seriously, it's either a nice vacation or a really good chance to tag 'World Champion' to the product - it is a commercial undertaking afterall. It...

eyeballing my alternate evals table, it looks to me like Nf3 is just about as good as e3 for the second position.
Ummm....I think these diagrams are FAR too few moves into a game to 'test' any engine on. I would not think any result would be worthwhile.

Re: asmFish

the historically accepted idea of correspondence chess (one on one...just not face to face) is truly dead. It was never one on one, that was the point. It doesn't really matter where the move comes from, it's either yours or it comes from an outside source you trust more. What's funny is, in classi...

Re: asmFish

Hello all, I'm continuing to search for the tactically strongest engine to assist my ICCF performance. Precisely why true 'Correspondence Chess' is dead. It is no longer 'one on one'...brain vs brain. It is merely...an illusion for people's egos. I quit it over 15 years ago (about 2399 ICCF) precis...
