Arena 3.10beta for Linux (Fix for Debian)

This version is available since 2020-01-19. It runs in MX Linux (64-bit). A minor problem remains. In a gauntlet match between two engines, using epd start positions sequentially with switched colors, the first position is used twice. Subsequent positions are used once as expected. This seems to be ...

Re: Arena 3.9 beta for Linux

I have used Arena 1.1 in MX Linux 19 on pen drive. The scores are reported wrongly when an xboard engine plays as white. I am happy to see this problem fixed in Arena 3.9 beta.

A burning question

Hi all, I used to run gauntlet matches in Arena on my Z570 laptop (i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz). CPU usage would be 25% with single CPU engines not pondering. Now I have installed "Core Temp". It shows core temperatures beyond 85 C when running a gauntlet for more than 10 minutes at ambient temperature o...

Re: On-line engine blitz tourney May

@MOBMAT and others Hi all, Since I invariably forget everything, I made a manual for myself. The information is mostly from forum posts, mainly by HGM. Re: On-line engine blitz tourney May

@HGM
Thanks for the tournament. I experienced several disconnections. Each time I could reconnect and did not miss any game. Internet signal seemed to be on all the time. Is there any way to avoid disconnections?

Regards

Problem with arena 3.5.1

My winboard engine "Nameless" has played many gauntlet matches on arena 3.0 without problem. A recently announced tournament I intend to join will be played on arena 3.5.1 . So I tried a gauntlet match (40/2 repeating) on arena 3.5.1 against an uci engine with epd start positions. It worked smoothly...

Re: I'm not very happy with the do {} while() statement in C

The more you use it, the more natural it will feel. I have a confession to make: I have a bunch of global variables in my code. :) I went through the pain of converting the code of "Nameless" to c++, the first line above is true. The process took less time than I anticipated. Also, I have the same ...
