A screenshot from the ICCF database before 12.a4:

Many OTB GMs have joined ICCF, possibly only to access the ICCF database!

Re: GUI question - HIARCs Chess Explorer, Fritz, or Aquarium

In Aquarium, how do you limit the move list to be searched? I'd like to understand how the feature is implemented if possible. Mike. If you click an X button on the analysis pane, a window pops up with 4 radio button options: 1) Analyse all moves 2) Analyse only moves in tree 3) Discard all tree mo...

Re: Scid vs. PC 4.14

Thank you very much for continuing to develop ScidvsPC. I can confirm that xfccplay in the Windows version of 4.14 is working now. EDIT: (with https protocol of ICCF). By the way, the help file gives the URL https://www.webchess.com/XfccBasic.asmx, which should be corrected to https://www.iccf.com/X...

Re: ScidvsPC -Request support Chess960

Scidb, an offshoot of Scid created by Gregor Cramer, has support for Chess960: http://scidb.sourceforge.net/index.html Thank you for the suggestion, but unfortunately, the windows version is not yet available. "Of course the Windows version is pending. This requires: A (quite complex) library to em...

ScidvsPC -Request support Chess960

When I try to load a Chess960 PGN database in ScidvsPC, lots of error messages appear and games with castling are not loaded.

Is it difficult to support Chess960?

Is there any way to prevent stoppage of loading the game, so that we can at least view the game completely?

Re: Siggestions for conversion of a rating system

As I already wrote, I would not look at the average FIDE rating of the whole FIDE pool but at the average FIDE rating of all FIDE-rated players in the AICCF pool. If you take the difference between that value and the current average AICCF rating of the same group of players then you get an idea of ...

Re: Siggestions for conversion of a rating system

Thank you very much for your detailed analysis. The ELO system is not accepted by many of our members as they say it is too complicated! 3) FIDE rating system based on Elo system, using Gaussian curve . . mean value: don't know From an ICCF booklet, I find 2200 used as a median value. Can anybody co...

Re: Siggestions for conversion of a rating system

Conversion between different human rating systems is sticky at best. True, but we have to do something. Thank you for your suggestions, we'll examine all possibilities before taking a final decision. Unfortunately, it is an association and convincing everybody is impossible. By following the ICCF s...
