Re: Next Komodo vs GM match - 2 pawns

The most interesting match to me was the one with the 30x time handicap. It would be even closer to normal chess, if the handicap was done via just slowing down the PC 30 times instead of giving it a different timecontrol. Ponder on, as the GM would also be able to think longer. And, it would be ea...

Re: Gambit Festival

Hi, Phalanx XXV would like to join the Gambit Festival Sub Pool. It works fine in Arena. https://sourceforge.net/projects/phalan ... ion%20XXV/

Re: Phalanx XXV

Hm, maybe it's not possible to pass the commandline arguments through the adapter. Would the adapter accept a .BAT or .CMD file that would just contain the 'phalanx25' command with the parameters?

Re: Phalanx XXV

The easy levels, as invoked with the -e commandline parameter, always add oversights and blunders. The rating gap between -e 1 and -e 99 is pretty large, actually. I think -e 1 is even stronger than the slowest limited NPS levels. Not sure how to design this so that it would go to near full strength...

Re: Phalanx XXV

Unfortunately, I'm not planning UCI support currently. When i find some time to work on the engine, i prefer to test ideas in search and evaluation. Perhaps interfaces that are UCI only should consider implementing xboard protocol :)

Is there not any good Xboard to UCI adaptor available?

Phalanx XXV

New Phalanx XXV is available from https://sourceforge.net/projects/phalanx/files/Version%20XXV/ Version XXV retains the playing style of XXIV, as there are no major changes in the static evaluation; just the bug fixes and these should make it stronger. Changes include: Better time management to use ...

Re: Final Standings

Thanks for running the tournament, I enjoyed watching some of the games online. My engine played a bit too fast, the original time allocation heuristic doesnt match the new lower branching factor. This has been improved and the upcoming version will use more time in critical positions; this simple f...

Re: Phalanx XXIV

Thanks Wolfgang, this has been fixed and now the CEGT 40/4 pages show 139 points increase, XXIII at 2231 and XXIV at 2370. http://www.husvankempen.de/nunn/40_4_Ratinglist/40_4_AllVersion/1050.html Just found CEGT has already 40/4 rating for XXIV, at 2691 it's 93 points higher than XXIII. Re: Phalanx XXIV

Just found CEGT has already 40/4 rating for XXIV, at 2691 it's 93 points higher than XXIII. CEGT uses a different rating system than CCRL, the differences are usually larger in CCRL.
