Re: 2 open projects

I am really amazed how far people are jumping to conclusions. I personally, wasn't assuming that my prediction would happen tomorrow. Even if it took ten years, I believe my prediction (and Graham's) would be most likely. LCZero despite being weak currently, is as far as I can see, the biggest chan...

Re: Premier Division: Standings after 49 rounds

Standings after 49 rounds: Stockfish and Houdini still are in the top two positions and they have increased the advantage over Komodo. Ginkgo and Fizbo remains in the bottom two positions but the latter is getting closer to Chiron. Still 35 rounds to be played so, nothing is decided yet. Watch live...

Re: Stockfish 9

This is a little bit 45 ELO Please try in the future to increase the engine at about 100 Elo some.Unfortunately, the engine with a small 45 ELO stands in place and getting worse with its development. Stockfish is an open project. So if you are programmer expert, please help the developers of Stockf...

Re: SF130118

At fishtest C=20 had shown 0 measurable regression, so it probably should not result in any meaningful regression vs houdini or komodo (also it didn't in some 1000-games samples of other testers). Right now it scores slightly more vs houdini and slightly less vs komodo but I guess it's just a noise...

Re: SF130118

Thanks for test. Obviously SF needs contempt 20 for Houdini rating. Stockfish doesn't need anything. It's already better than all of these engines including Houdini. The only thing that matters is match versus match rather than match percentage versus all engines. So with Houdini losing badly versu...

Re: Intel CPU performance-loss by security-patch?!?

Yes it would have to be a malware, but problem is thanks to the general nature of exploit knowing how the exploit work would make it very easy to write millions of version of the malware that would all have different signatures effectively making it impossible for anti-malware developers to catch u...

Is this patch really necessary? I mean - is someone really going to hack a personal PC? Doesn't seem worth any performance loss...

Re: Stockfish and Fischer

And here my latest puzzle for you from Fischer's positional suite: [d]3r1rk1/1p1n1ppp/pNbpp3/8/2P1P3/5P2/PPB3PP/2RR2K1 w - - 0 19 White to play and win, single winning move. This is from Fischer-Rossetto, Mar del Plata 1959. Anyone able to find it? Engines are reputed to be very good in the endgame...

Re: DDR5 memory

How important is RAM speed for a chess engine? If the hybrid memory cube {HMC} comes into use would that help engines a lot? Almost not impact from what I've seen... I'm running ddr3... 1060mhz... no performance difference from 2100 ddr4 to this... overrated... means nothing. Ram is fast enough whe...
