I'm running a CM12 (AOSP-based ROM) beta on my Note 3. Lollipop and material design is a treat.
No issues with any apps I've tried, which are: Chess PGN Master, Droidfish, Chess for Android, Scid on the Go, Analyze This, Komodo 8 (from Play Store) and Shredder Chess.

Re: Chess for Android - set time controls?
There are some buggy engines that incorrectly believe that UCI options are case sensitive though. A workaround for those buggy engines have been implemented in the development version of DroidFish. Could there be any reason not to send the options back to the engine in exactly the same way as they ...

Re: Chess for Android - set time controls?
Any plans for allowing changing of all UCI parameters/options for every engine? Interesting. When I added this feature in 2010, I played with the idea of dynamically building a menu by adding an Android widget for each UCI option, but decided to go with the less general approach of only supporting ...

Re: Chess for Android - set time controls?
Hi Aart,
Any plans for allowing changing of all UCI parameters/options for every engine?
So far Chess PGN Master is the only Android app with this functioning properly. Droidfish's implementation is yet to work fully. Would love the functionality on Chess for Android!

Droidfish now allowing changing of UCI options not working
Hi all, This concerns all Android chess users who have recently updated Droidfish to v1.55. This update is supposed to allow you to change UCI parameters for all engines, not just Stockfish. There is now a "Set Options" option under "Manage Chess Engines", which displays the configurable UCI options...

Changing UCI parameters/options in Android
Most of the Android chess apps/GUIs (apart from Chess PGN Master) do not allow displaying and/or changing of the UCI parameters of the selected engine. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way of changing the parameters before installing the engine in whatever GUI I choose e.g. Chess for Android. Tha...

Re: Komodo Android Experiment
Stockfish 5 is also much stronger on Android (from my testing), so if he'd used SF, I think it could have been a whitewash.

Re: Komodo Android Experiment
He used an LG Optimus G Pro which has a 1.7ghz quad-core processor - the Snapdragon 600.
Komodo 8 is using all four cores.

Re: What a checkmate by Rhetoric!
Pitted my friend against Rhetoric just now. He's rated around 1800. Look at this beautiful checkmate in 26 moves! Knight sacrifice at 15. Kxd5 blew the game open, but highlight has moves 25 and 26. Black thought he had won the game and then that checkmate came out of nowhere. Here's a link to view ...
