Re: FGRL 10 min + 6 sec Rating list - Komodo 13.01 MCTS

FGRL Rating list - 10 minutes + 6 seconds Komodo 13.01 MCTS ( +53 to Komodo 12.3 MCTS) On the FastGM 60+0.6 list it only gained 8 Elo over Komdo 12.3 MCTS. When I saw that, I scoffed at MCTS and began to wonder what the fuss was about. But seeing this gain of 53 Elo completely changed my mind. It's...

Re: Chess Engine LoopChess 2018 x64?

By chance happened across the LoopChess site and saw this post:"Loop 2018 Loop 2018 is a 64-bit UCI chess engine that has been completely reprogrammed since October 2018. The engine is specially designed for 64-bit systems and is being consistently optimized. Thanks to its clearly structured struct...

Re: Komodo 13 released

@larry - Can you explain what the search tree looks like in layman's terms? I'm curious as to how this operates. With standard alpha-beta search, the programs just explore alone one line at a time, only saving/remembering the best line. With MCTS search, the whole game tree is stored in memory as a...

Re: How to get the "usual" Multi PV with MCTS engines?

I want already to rewrite the basis of the opening theory using Lc0, being an 1700 Elo player . Now, a bit more seriously, I am confident that late nets of the T30 and T40 runs are VERY strong in the openings (provably MUCH stronger than any standard AB engine). So, I let Lc0 21.2rc1 with a go...

Re: Komodo CEGT 40/20 and 'Strength'

Hopefully I am not barking up a dead tree or wasting anyone's time....this is mostly asked of Team Komodo, Team CEGT...or anyone who really has something to say. I am going to hope my formatting stays true for this cut/paste. These are the Komodo versions since 9 for the CEGT 40/20 just released. I...

Re: Komodo 13 released

Is the komodo team working on an Android version of komodo 13? I would be interested in the Monte Carlo version. I find the smartphone an extremely comfortable object for analyzing games while I'm out Yes, we still plan an Android release. MCTS is a bit of a challenge due to larger memory requireme...

Re: Komodo 13 released

Where do I set MultiPV under the Shredder GUI? It seems that you can't set MutiPV under the Shredder GUI (it hides the setting in engine options, and doesn't allow to set it directly; I had to make my own compile of McCain that calls it "MultiPW" just to fix this.) The best you can do is using the ...

Re: Komodo 13 released

I believe that both Komodo and Komodo MCTS share the same code and it is not fair to have them as seperate engines. This is a common thing for the CCRL, as Fritz 16 is +90% Rybka 4, and they have them as separate engines. it is up to each person running tournaments to decide what rules they want fo...

Re: trying to understand mcts

I do not know if MCTS will surpass alpha-beta. But in K MCTS, the Hash used during search is different from the MCTS Hash which holds the MCTS nodes. Preloading a Hash can be bad unless you have a good replacement scheme to always writ over the hash entries, otherwise the hash gets full of high dept...
