Re: Bitdefender detects Stockfish 6 as virus ???

I had the same experience with Panda. I was able to manually override but Panda thinks all Stockfish programs are viruses! I was a little surprised by this but all along, both McAfee and Panda have always "cautioned" me when downloading any Stockfish engines. McAfee doesn't even like the Development...

Re: Can I have a comprehensive list of original engines?

I think it is possible to make a combination list and graph that would do a good job of generally describing engine originality. It could have anywhere from 2 to several columns with possible headings: 1) Highly original (Gull) 2) Branches off very early from parent engine 3) About half original 4) ...

Re: Which engine do you like the most and why?

Good Question! Not so easy to answer either... Being honest, I'm fickle. One week excited about this engine, then the next week something else and so on. Another thing is the tendency to want what you don't have. Even though an engine may not even be near the top, it can become the target of a hunt....

Re: Will a human ever make 2900?

I wonder about Fischer's play in today's chess. He had a singular focus and a tremendous brain for chess. If he was at his peak and had access to today's computers and was able to study today's players, I think he would be either top or near the top. Have human brains changed that much in 40 years? ...

Re: SCCT - Blitz Rating List 2015

Sedat - Thank you for your efforts in testing and sharing them! SugaR 5.1 (and its predecessor 5.0) have made an impressive showing in your matches. I'm also seeing consistent winning by SugaR 5.0 on my machine. 10 for 10 in matches against the toughest competition including Shark, Stockfish 6, Orka...

Re: SCCT - Blitz Rating List 2015

Marco...

Any possibility of access to Sugar 5.1?

I've been having wonderful results with Sugar 5.0 - an unbroken string of victories on my machine against the strongest possible competition.

I would be very happy to see what Sugar 5.1 can do!

thank you,
David

Re: Would you like Vasik Rajlich to comeback in Computerches

Any one who has talent and desire should follow it. If Vasik Rajlich still has the fire burning, it would seem very likely that he'd contribute meaningful ideas to the advancement of computer chess. Say what you will about him, I don't think his work can be completely discounted. It just isn't true ...

Re: Strength improvements due to software rather than hardwa

David Levy estimated a 50 to 70 point gain in ELO when processor speed is doubled. Taking this into account, a typical quality standalone chess "game" from around 1990 ran at around 12 mhz. The best, generally affordable machine played at close to master level. (2200) If you double the speed, accord...
