Re: planned weekly komodo vs human series on chess.com

Maybe Komodo team might give chess960 + material odds a try. The disharmony of the pieces offered in chess960 might offset some material deficit.

Most top engines play chess960 equally good as standard setup.

Re: Armageddon Openings released

I discovered this position couple of years ago.

For two pawns white got open files for the rooks and black can't castle either sides.

Re: Lc0 on RTX 2080 Super

I tried Lc0 in selfplay in this borderline endgame (by borderline i mean considerable advantage for white but not certain that it's winning edge). i7-5960X 4.4GHz Net used: T40e-swa-3000 TC:30m+30s EGTB: Partial 7-piece syzygy GUI: Fritz GUI [Event "DESKTOP-N1IDKRV, Rapid 30m+30s"] [Site "Expert-Des...

Re: Lc0 on RTX 2080 Super

Speed ranging from 17 to middle of 30s into 50 kilo nodes per second.

Network is 128x10-2019_0812_1326_54_239 - is it good and is there any better at this point?

Lc0 on RTX 2080 Super

Received 2080 Super yesterday replacing my 1070 Ti that have been in use for about 2 years. Speed for Lc0: 16-35-55 Kilo nodes per second. Game observation: look at that miserable bishop at h1 later in the game. Komodo was lucky this time. [Event "DESKTOP-N1IDKRV, Rapid 30m+30s"] [Site "Expert-Deskt...

Re: WCCC 2019 Macau..

I was under the impression that WCCC is a farce.

It's to entertain the audience, humor etc.

Re: 237 Mn/s for Stockfish on an 2xEPYC 7742

My oldest functioning CPU is Pentium E5200 which is obviously to new and strong at single core.

Would be fun to know how 15-20 year old CPUs do in 2019.

Alternatively Chessmaster 8 or 9 at single core.

Re: Chess for Android: Quick Castling/En-passant

The rules should be if you touch the rook first then you should not be able to castle regardless. Otherwise one may exploit the castling/touch move privileges. If you let users castle with the rook first then they will continue develop a bad habbit that might be punished in a OTB tournament game. Ca...

Re: 7 Man Syzygy and SSD

I remember EG magazine has mentioned before that few 8-man tablebases in other format than syzygy has been generated earlier. I also seem to remember than a few have been generated. They must have been pawnless ones with a lot of duplicate pieces (like KQQQvKQQQ). After removing symmetries, these t...
