Re: Stockfish Wins Chess Com Engines Champs9!

This competition is a newer evidence for the statement that NN engines are stronger than Stockfish only in that case if the competitors do not use an independent opening book.
In general there is no serious difference in Elo between Stockfish and the top NN engines.

Re: Lc0 on RTX 2080 Super

On my rtx 2070-super lc0 gets FP16 28k nps FP32 10k nps using a 20x256 net, so it is a bigger net than yours. It is interesting to see there is only 2.8 times difference between speed of FP16 and of FP32. For older GPUs the difference was about four times. Which net you used in concrete and what wa...

Re: What if, SF and Leela were running on same hardware?

Now chess.com is doing 150/5 , 12 games match, SF vs Leela on CPU. ( Leela is 320x24, bigger network). Speed ratio of nps = 1:100,000. Results so far= 2 draws. nps ratio is ~120 000. Not sure whether comma is a decimal delimiter or thousand delimemter, but neither seem to be correct. A go...

Received 2080 Super yesterday replacing my 1070 Ti that have been in use for about 2 years.
Speed for Lc0: 16-35-55 Kilo nodes per second.
...
What is 15-35-55 Kns/sec?
What were the parameters? (net files, Lc0 parameters, etc)

Re: Out of the Kai 450 positions, 99 not found by SF

If we disregard the obviously weak continuations there are relatively few strategical opening positions with only one solving. If there is a position in which the best continuation is different for Stockfish and for Leela we can make decision established manner if we make some(?) game between Stockf...

Re: Is the 320x24b larger net the strongest around for RTX GPU?

That would be poor design. Engine shouldn't fix GUI mistakes. There is a command to start a new game and reset the caches. It's GUI's fault that it doesn't use it. There are reasons to not want cache reset at starting position. For example experimenting around starting pos, taking moves back and fo...

Re: Is the 320x24b larger net the strongest around for RTX GPU?

But where Leela knows from she should reset the tree? Only the GUI knows when a game ends and the new game starts. So without the command of Ucinewgame the tree is not reset. Before every move, a position is sent to an engine, so that it knows what to think about. If it's a startpos (or other posit...

Re: Is the 320x24b larger net the strongest around for RTX GPU?

Obviously we can run consecutive games on a Fritz GUI with restart(that is "Ucinewgame") = OFF only. If there's no ucinewgame, the NN cache is not cleared, but a tree is still reset. It's not a problem and doesn't cause unbounded memory usage growth as cache size is limited (and it fills up pretty ...

Re: Is the 320x24b larger net the strongest around for RTX GPU?

There is a clear difference in match results with and without the restart=on option in cutechess-cli. ... Obviously we can run consecutive games on a Fritz GUI with restart(that is "Ucinewgame") = OFF only. It has two consequences: Some benefit against AB engines and the gradually growing memory us...

Re: Is the 320x24b larger net the strongest around for RTX GPU?

I think during an infinite analysis and one Leela`s game the enhancement of Leela`s memory usage is a natural consequence of the usage of MCTS-like search. But the lack of reset between two consecutive game is a real bug. From this bug Leela may yield benefit: During the next game she can use the r...
