Re: what happened to scorpio NN in TCEC?

How can one hurt fairness by including non-crashing games of a crashing engine? Very simple, by introducing the so-called "tester bias". I'll illustrate from an example from my own practice. Early in my testing career I was testing an old Winboard engine under Cute Chess GUI and observed an unusual...

Napoleon 1.8 64-bit

Mediafire: napoleon-18-64-tp.zip
Tinyupload: napoleon-18-64-tp.zip

The official v1.8 exec needs a Haswell (or later) CPU. This release provides execs that work on older archs. The changes to the latest code required to make that work are in the included .diff patch.

Re: new Engine, Axolotl

Thanks again for noticing this! I had changed this in my source code, but made a mistake in the commit. I hope you will not have this issue again. The reason for the larger .jar was that I accidentally bundled some test classes that are not used in the final product. I have removed them, this was a...

Re: new Engine, Axolotl

when the engine receives the "uci" command, it currently prints: id name Axolotl-v1.1 id author Louis James Mackenzie-Smith That's not what I get here: Starting everything uci Starting Engine id name Axolotl id author Louis James Mackenzie-Smith uciok Axolotl.jar CRC-32: 7B2B8144 One good archiving...

Re: Komodo MCTS scales worse with TC than Komodo A/B?

I had all the games replayed and now have the score for only one of them: [Event "Komodo 12.2.2 MCTS 64-bit 4CPU 40/40"] [Site "Dual E5-2690v2"] [Date "2018.11.15"] [Round "2"] [White "Komodo 12.2.2 MCTS 64-bit 4CPU"] [Black "Xiphos 0.4 64-bit 4CPU"] [Result "0-1"] [ECO "D84"] [GameDuration "01:14:1...

Re: Komodo MCTS scales worse with TC than Komodo A/B?

We already found and fixed a bug that was probably related to the crash, although I'm not sure that the problem is fully solved yet. I think that it is likely that the huge number of threads rather than the long time control may be related to the problem. I've seen at least four crashes (out of abo...

Re: new Engine, Axolotl

Good job, Louis! Looks like you fixed every single issue reported so far. And no apologies necessary, no one would seriously expect lightning-quick response, the kind you showed on this occasion, on the regular basis. There only remains the minor detail of adding version info to the "id name" UCI ou...

Re: Zevra v2.0 r146 beta

Hello! No, there is no new version in the plans Promises, promises ... ;) I just noticed that Zevra has a style. And what a style! Something right up my alley. Here is a game between the new version and v1.8.6 r672. [Event "?"] [Site "?"] [Date "2018.11.14"] [Round "?"] [White "Zevra 1.8.6 r672 64-...
