Re: Schooner 2

Hi Dennis,

Are you planning on adding multi-PV support at some point?

This guy (Mr. Schooner 2) is going to be one of my primary analysis engines - especially for endgames/queenless middlegames.

Imagine analyzing your endgames with Carlsen

This is my view of Schooner at this point.

Re: Stockfish 9 on iOS ?

Stronger than any human? Lyudmil Tsvekov wont be happy with your claim. He said "he can win stockfish easily" . Lyudmil is a guy who is smart enough to have figured out that good and bad hype are still generally good for sales. And one of the best ways to create hype is to repeatedly make the most ...

Re: Schooner 2

Continuing to be impressed with Schooner. Not because of its strength. Stockfish and Komodo are much stronger. But the style...very human like. You can think Carlsen is playing. 1. I disagree that SF and Komodo are "much" stronger. They're stronger, but not by much it seems. 2. Yes! Like Carlsen, t...

Re: Schooner 2

Wow Schooner is at least 2800, probably 2900 now! Isn't that like +300 Elo or more? Hello Brendan, Yes, 150+ just for the new gcc v7.2.0-posix compiler (the old one was no good). This was recommended by Andrew Grant. The new compiler required a complete re-write of the program so a lot of o...

Re: Schooner 2

Dennis, you have taken me in. I abandoned my first gauntlet with Schooner but in the second one against average 3050 opponents it still scores 70 %... So it seems you've made a 600 Elo improvement. That's cruel. And hints as to the CCRL rating? Surely it'll be over 3200! :) Impressive is an underst...

Re: Schooner 2

Very strong and positionally refined. It just crushed Ktulu ( as expected) in my machine like a human master clock work. I'm noticing the same thing. It is as if a great master from the past somehow received cyborg implants. Chess engines have no emotions, as we well know, but in this game Fritz 16...

Re: Schooner 2

Wow Schooner is at least 2800, probably 2900 now! Isn't that like +300 Elo or more? Great job! It has a really nice playing style too, reminiscent of Deep Junior back in the days. Enjoying watching this engine and even played a game against it. It was only 3 2, but I switched off PV (so I ca...

Re: Rb6 is devastating

Would you have seen it OTB? 1r3r2/p1p1k1pp/B2p1n2/2b1p2q/3nP1b1/3P1N1P/PPPN1PP1/R1BQ1RK1 b - - I would see it over the board for sure, and for three reasons; 1. White cannot take on g4 because of 1.hxg4 Nxg4 2.any Nxf3 3.Nxf3 Rxf3 -+ and so... 2.. It wins a tempo and thus buys time for ...d5 and a ...
