Re: What got you into computer chess?

For me it was analyzing my OTB games in my youth and seeing how bad I really was at chess. With the help of engines I learned to play better chess i.e helping me see tactics quicker. In the present, it is the TCEC and other computer competitions that peek my interest because I love to see the develo...

Re: Komodo 12 and MCTS

Chessbase just sent me a promo email... https://preview.ibb.co/k9QDHd/Capture.jpg Projecting itself as the next AlphaZero. ...when its actually LIGHT YEARS behind AlphaZero. Lefler can NEVER hope to match the Brilliant Programmers at Google, many of whom I'm proud to say, are of Indian Origin...

Re: Komodo 12 and MCTS

Just my opinion. I have been doing some experimenting on K12 mcts and Stockfish eval given a LTC. I have to generally agree with Mark and Larry that K12 comes up with interesting novelties that SF will prune out. I also find that K12 MCTS plays very dynamic chess that is more akin to human play. Whe...

Re: Komodo 12 and MCTS

I don't speak much here but I do want to say that MCTS is a great idea and look forward to it being improved. At the very least, it is a fresh new idea that can be tested.

Re: Komodo benefits less from TBs?

I want to see if Komodo would benefit from relying on it's own calculations more during the middle stages of the games. Good ! It does, actually, but I have no Proof, as its only an Observation of mine while watching online Engine-Engine Matches. Unfortunately, its not consistent enough, but perhap...

Re: Komodo benefits less from TBs?

I am currently running a 10K head to head match between default Komodo verses a tweaked variation of Komodo( I made it so it does not hit TBS so quickly). I want to see if Komodo would benefit from relying on it's own calculations more during the middle stages of the games. Though it is still early ...

Re: Houdini 6 has been released

Just an fyi I had trouble running the installer on my 24 core Windows 2016 server edition. I had to go into the executable properties and select the unlock feature.

Re: Komodo 11 is out!

Congrats to the Komodo team for a new strong release. you mean Stockfish team has found? :D A lot of Stockfish's committed changes are simplification patches and tuning patches. These changes can't be applied to any other engine, except to clones. Stockfish also discusses and tries ideas from Komod...
