Only the WDL files are used during search, so those are the performance critical ones. You can keep the DTZ files on a hard drive because they're typically only probed once per search, and therefore have no need of being on an SSD. In games with tablebase adjudication, only the WDL probe has any effect on strength, as only WDL tables are used in search. Generally the effect is small (in the order of 10-20 elo).

My i5 8400 running 5 concurrent games is running at around 70 C, but the situation in the UK is nowhere as crazy as the rest of europe at the moment.
