Re: LCZero: Progress and Scaling. Relation to CCRL Elo
That's indeed a very impressive result but that's probably what neural-nets are good at. It's kind of intresting. Weaker traditional alpha-beta engines are decent at tactics and suffer from bad positional play while with Leela0 it's the other way around

The new net + the new client was about 300 selfplay elo stronger than id 44. Since some ppl were still using the v3 and not the v4 client the elo graph is completly messed up and the elo difference of 55 vs 44. is much lower in the graph. What does the client version have to do with ELO ? I meant t...

For the moment, it's only ~1500 elo CCRL, and progress is starting to stall. On the other hand, 12 months is a long time, and immense amount of resources are thrown at it. So perhaps 2000 is possible. But 3400, definitely not... Lc0 is beating TSCP now so I would say it's clearly above 1500 No it d...

Playing a match against Leela doesn't help her learn. The entire learning process is based on the selfplay-games

Re: LCZero is confusing
The number Elo is meaningless except against the competition in a pool. The high Elo number is against a random mover. It will take a long time for LCZero to get to SF level. The interesting thing is the big, big gains. We will see if that continues. I think it is time for a bigger net. Now we see ...
