Re: Official release version of Stockfish 9

On a 2014 Apple Mac Pro, when running Stockfish 9, I am seeing a nps of 4.7m! This is with two cores running in analysis mode (middle game phase) within Hiarcs Explorer. This is more than double the speed quoted by Michael B at 2.0m nps? Perhaps Michael is quoting for 1 core only?

Re: Komodo Sub

I mainly use Hiarcs Explorer for its fuss free simple user interface. It also appears to run engines a tad faster (perhaps slightly less overhead) than the chessbase interface. I haven't been successful in finding a clear hash command in hiarcs explorer so i normally Switch engines then switch back ...

Re: Komodo Sub

I have noticed another quirk in longer analysis sessions in that the nodes per second does tend to reduce. This happens to both Komodo and Houdini and I wonder whether it may be tied up with hash reaching 100%. I don't always clear hash between analysis of different positions, but I do find by closi...

Re: Komodo Sub

Hi Herbert, Your example very much illustrates one of the points I had experienced. I am aware that for every ply that is completed something like an exponential increase in time is required to complete the next ply....however, i can leave the processing overnight and see no update in reporting of a...

Re: Komodo Sub

My testing is revealing a distinct difference between Houdini 6.0.3 and Komodo 11.2.2 whereby Houdini is always quicker to find a longer mating line, and reporting it. I run Houdini on a dual core i7 Surface whereas Komodo runs on a HP Omen with 4 core i7 and still Komodo may take considerably more ...

Komodo contempt values

Hi I wonder if somebody could answer my query? When using contempt in Komodo 11.2.2 the readme file states that Komodo will set Contempt to zero internally, in analysis mode, unless 'White Contempt' is turned on. It is not clear to me if, when 'White Contempt' is turned on 'Contempt' is set to zero ...

Re: Houdini with a six point lead near the halfway point of

Not quite sure how Houdini only progresses when Stockfish progresses when Houdini is getting superior results to Stockfish? Looks to me like Stockfish has hit a wall anD development improvement has slowed somewhat.

Re: Shredder 13 for Mac and Linux out

Does anyone know if further development is ongoing to build triple brain and engine v engine functions into Shredder 13 for Mac? I also cannot cut and paste a game score now (as I could in shredder 12) i have to copy the whole pgn file, which takes a little longer as I have to download the pgn file ...
