Re: An actual interesting computer chess read about FF2
... First (and worst) anomaly: in a sideline with SF analysis, SH claims that SFNNue wants to play an obvious error, 19...g5?? But i wasn't able to reproduce that (maybe, just *maybe*, after a much deeper analysis SF could come up with 19...g5, although i doubt that... (the response 20.f4 stays sta...

Re: Centaur vs Unassisted Engine
Draw agreed Indeed. a5! is a nice resource. Otherwise white keeps at least some token advantage (although still rather drawn). Nc3 instead of Re1 on move 12 was the engine's anticipated reply, much preferred to Re1. It also thought Bf4 was a modestly better try than Bg5. I'll play out the first sev...

Re: How many of you believe that Stockfish 12 or Komodo can give a rook Odds to a 1450 engine ?
I'm not going to belabor the point after this, since I prefer not to get sucked into an xkcd Duty Calls situation. :D First, it was f7 and an extra move in addition to being white (so pawn and two moves in standard odds-speak), not just f7. Second, I explained why speed and TC would matter; I didn't...

Re: How many of you believe that Stockfish 12 or Komodo can give a rook Odds to a 1450 engine ?
Yeah, a few quick points. 1. As I said clearly already, Stash 27.0 is still quite a bit weaker than Komodo, so I know it will lose some games. 2. Some of the moves in that game Stash 27.0 switches from quickly for me, so either your machine is very slow and/or the TC was faster than the Naka match, ...

Re: Centaur vs Unassisted Engine
Draw provisionally accepted. Having said that, I will reveal I am not using tablebases, so if you want to continue to see if that can be exploited at this long TC, I'm up for it. Indeed, both schemes would incentivize some types of imbalances, and the mere counting scheme's incentives would be diffe...
