ShashChess learning tested
Hi. After some years I'm here again with two tests I ran on ShashChess learning system. First one: 100 games match vs a version of SF NNUE, TC 5+3, on the position r1b1kb1r/2q2p1p/p2p1P2/2nP4/1p1N4/5Q2/PPP4P/2KR1BR1 b kq - 0 18 This is the result: -----------------SF_NNUE_x64_240720_AllAVX_POPCNT_25...

Re: Is there a program to build opening books based on engin
I don't know if such a program exists, but... how would you avoid repetitive lines? Example, if you use Stockfish you'll get lots of Queen's Indians, some French and few Spanish.

Re: Secret of Slipper
Just an impression. I can't think the checkmate is a random move. There are some logical moves too as 9. ..hxg6 and 15.Rxh2. These moves are some clues of possible learning.

Re: Do patches need to be open source?
Just my opinion. If your patch is a direct modification of SF code and it results in a modified SF binary, than it should be open source. But if you modify SF source and binary to launch an external application which handles all the learning stuff, then SF source (including the code lines for launch...

Re: McBrain 9.0 with Smarter Tactical Setting
Well you are free to fork McBrain , as you already know , but if you are going to release anything to the public , I ask that you name it something else. Thank you. Wait, are you asking me to rename the engine and make a proper release, putting some "By Ulysses P., and others" in the executable, wh...

Re: McBrain 9.0 with Smarter Tactical Setting
Interesting. It must be some very high quality chess. Who knows? If Rodolfo Leoni easily defeats me from both sides of the board that would prove that my methods didn't produce that much quality  But yeah, I suspect Rodolfo and me are two of the people with the highest experience using Persist...

Re: McBrain 9.0 with Smarter Tactical Setting
It happened once that an opponent (Roman Usmanoff, you can look at that game if you want) waited until he had 1 day, then he moved. He played the whole game in zeitnot and when his position got hopeless he lost on time. Haha! I actually lost 15 days in 4 of my games. What happened is that I h...

Re: McBrain 9.0 with Smarter Tactical Setting
@Ulysses: I just played 16. ..Qe8 :P Ah, but I still have 11 days in that game... it can wait while I attempt to save all my other games with 10, 9 or even 8 days remaining! It happened once that an opponent (Roman Usmanoff, you can look at that game if you want) waited until he had 1 day, th...

Re: McBrain 9.0 with Smarter Tactical Setting
How are your games against Rodolfo going? Your both undefeated right? Nah, I've been defeated many times over the years, I'm just undefeated at FICGS and the LSS. And I haven't been defeated since 2014. We're still on the opening phase in both games, but he can tell you that I'm low on time in both...

Re: McBrain 9.0 with Smarter Tactical Setting
Looks brilliant. Maybe Mike Byrne will consider the idea to include your solution into next release of McBrain. Besides, I still hope he'll include the persistent hash and the load/save hash code by Daniel Jose as an option. As it only works with infinite analysis mode it wouldn't affect play...
