Re: Functioning well on Nexus One

The engines plays when the level is different from Free Play. I followed your procedure but it doesn't work. Sorry. I would love to help, but unfortunately it is very hard to debug "it doesn't work" reports. Incidentally, the Nexus One (and Nexus S) are my most heavily and successfully tested devic...

All right!!! :)

I can't get it on my Nexus One: analysis mode says all the time = free. Hi Arturo, Did you also import an UCI engine? The infinite analysis only starts when (1) in free mode *and* (2) an UCI engine is active (the built-in Java engine does not output its analysis). Instructions on installing and imp...

Re: Not functioning on Nexus One

2) Set the level to anything but Free play. Select 1s per move, or anything. This is the key trick. You must be in a level that is not Free play before using it. Albert, You should not have to use this trick. When in free play, importing an UCI engine will start the infinite analysis as soon as the...

Not functioning on Nexus One

Chess for Android version 2.9.4 is available from the Android market or as direct download . This version introduces the much requested "infinite analysis" mode for an imported UCI engine, in which the engine reports its analysis of positions without actually making moves. To enable this mode, chan...

Re: Dorky is lot better than I thought.

Hi Pal: As I do always with every program, I played Dorky at 40 moves in one hour using an Arena book, 3.0\Books\Perfect_2010. I have seen that dorky is rated as a 2300 machine , but I think is stronger. I will try to send you my last defeat at that rythm. I was completely poutmanouvred. fern Just,...

Re: Is Chess A Sport?

Chess today is a recognized sport of the International Olympic Committee. Yes, it has to do with commercial interests to sell this idea. Look also, how bridge wants to be recognized... http://reports.chessdom.com/chess-olympic-sport But, man... what ever you want to show, chess is just that a board...

Re: Is Chess A Sport?

Now that I think about it, a definition in a dictionary is not absolute. It is merely a guide into the common usage of a word. Just because the top most definitions all use a certain term like the word physical does not invalidate the lower usage definitions that do not contain the word physical. T...

Re: Is Chess A Sport?

Also, if a person is running away from an attacker is that sport? If a person is jogging for pleasure or for fitness is that sport. What about weight lifting for the same reasons? The essence of sport is not defined by how much physical effort it takes to compete in the sport. It is defined by a ce...
