Years ago, when I wanted to quickly test an engine's tactical speed, I used to input 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Na5??. Of course this is far too easy nowadays–and was never that challenging anyway. What, in your opinion, is the most taxing tactic reached in as few moves as possible from the regular sta...

Re: Scorpio 2.8

@Marek, You shouldn't expect the AlphaZero like combination of tactics and strategy in scorpioMCTS. My approach of MCTS should give exactly same style as a standard alpha-beta engine. What ScorpioMCTS aims to prove is that it is possible to get to the tactical level of standard alpha-beta engines u...

Re: Scorpio 2.8

It's been over a week. Your impressions of ScorpioMC? The Windows version occasionally crashes while the Linux version is okay (but then I am running via Wine). I haven't been able to get Scorpio bitbases going at all. Tactically, treeht=0 is stronger than =1. Unfortunately, I didn't discover any po...

Re: Scorpio 2.8

In infinite analysis in Scid on this position:

[d]r4r1k/ppq4p/2n1bppP/2P1p3/2B2n2/1N3Q2/PBP2PP1/3RR1K1 w - - 0 1

with these settings:

montecarlo 1; treeht 512; mt 4; egbb_load_type 0

I got this:
