Weiss 1.3 released. Now knows some basic king safety thanks to No4b (Drofa). Turns out this is quite useful and 1.3 is 80-100 elo ahead of 1.2 in self-play. I expect a bit less in lists :)

Thanks Terje. You make good progress.

Oh goodness. Do you actually have to buy it for 99 euros? Has the interface changed since Fritz 17?

Re: NN in Scorpio 3.0.11 is not loaded

This issue with Fritz/Chessbase is noted in the INSTALL.md and a workaround is provided there https://github.com/dshawul/Scorpio/blob/master/INSTALL.md#installing-in-a-gui It is Fritz's fault that it can not accept engines executed via a script -- i mean it excludes many python engines, scorpio and...

Re: NN in Scorpio 3.0.11 is not loaded

The instructions in the INSTALL.md are simple and you don't have to edit scorpio.ini manually or anything. a) Download install.bat and put it in a directory you want to install Scorpio. b) Then run "install.bat" on the command line and let it download networks etc and install everything for you. c)...

Re: KnightX 2.5 bug

This was Christophes' answer in the WB forum now: Hello, In reply to the topic "KnightX 2.5 bug" on a forum: Yes, the 2.5 version use twice the memory wanted when you set the hash table size in the config file. This is because this version now use a cluster of two positions for each hash table entr...

Re: KnightX 2.5 bug

By accident I detected a bug (or not announced change?) in hash usage for KnightX 2.5 in xboard mode. This version now uses around twice as much hash as expected and is not in sync with the given numbers in the cfg file. It was still ok in version 2.4. I sent a mail to Christophe. values from the c...

Re: Effect of Hahtable size

Hi guys, A little newbie question, but what is the difference between 16gb and 4gb? I know that low size can get filled quickly, but every time it happens the engine suppose to just replace old entries with new ones, doesn't it? so why low size is generally recommended for blitz play (depends on on...

For some time I don't receive e-mail notifications of replies to my posts or of private messages to me, which makes it difficult to follow the forum. I have not touched my user profile. I hope I haven't missed anything recently but it is a pain to log in just to see if I have a notification. I wonde...

Re: Progress on Rustic

First appearance on our list: http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404/cgi/engine_details.cgi?match_length=30&each_game=1&print=Details&each_game=1&eng=Rustic%20Alpha%201%2064-bit#Rustic_Alpha_1_64-bit Better than expected. Other impressions: Enterprising style, king safety addition badly needed. Wa...
