Re: Chenglite (UCI) by Maksim Korzh

Hi guys! I'm really surprised to see the topic dedicated to my engine, thank you for your interest! Now I'll try to answer to all of your posts... so: 1. version 1.1 - forget about it due to it was full of bugs in search, kindly pointed out by Marco Belli and H.G.Muller, now the only version is avai...

Re: My PHP Chess Move Generator is slow. Help!

You have to sometimes sacrifice your casual programming habbits and even languages to improve the performance. Rewrite the entire move generator is quite common stuff in chess programming e.g. I'm rewriting from scratch my own engine for the third time. Solutions, as I see them: 1. If you want to wr...

Re: Minimalism in chess programming

Thank you, mr. Muller! This is the most inspiring thing I've ever heard - now I have absolutely no doubts whether to try to turn my engine into something close to micro-Max or not. I would definitely start rewriting the code from scratch just right now. Only a couple more technical questions. The fi...

Re: Minimalism in chess programming

Thank you guys for sharing your thoughts, but I'm still wondering about H.G.Muller's opinion at this point and the other question - is there somebody but H.G.Muller or Oscar Toledo to get close to 2kb sized engine? I mean why people don't try to write minimalistic program's? Why most choose to incre...

Re: Minimalism in chess programming

I'm trying to find my path in chess engine development. My first aim was to write a bug free move generator which took me 3 years... I didn't even know how to code at that time. Now I have a program that plays chess, but it's size is much bigger than it's strength :D , so as far as I'm pretty satisf...

Re: Minimalism in chess programming

I'm close to complete my minimalist engine. After implementing alpha beta prunning and the most basic move ordering stuff I've finally reached the point of satisfaction. My original aim was to masrter 0x88 board representation( previously I tried mail box 120 and plain magic bitboards believe it or...
