Re: Current TCEC Cup

Let's not worry about the $ estimate. Is the 1400 CPU years a fair estimate?? Then I'd like to know how many CPU years Lc0 testing has had so far. The main server shows 115 million games. Games have also been played on the testserver. The current test run is over 7 million games. I don't know how m...

Re: Current TCEC Cup

LCO has a long way to go. Lco would probably be on par with Komodo and Houdini( She won 1v1 on Komodo in cccc). She is already somewhere between top 2- 4. Her score 4.5-2.5 means , -100 elo, you will get similar result between SF vs K or H. Why Stockfish is so strong?. Let us estimate the inveatment...

Re: What got you into computer chess?

AlphaZero. I have a longstanding interest in machine learning, but little interest in chess except as a computational challenge. AlphaZero led to LC0 then to an interest in CUDA programming, and now I'm working on a chess engine which uses a GPU to do the last few plies of search. As I said to Srdja...

Re: Lc0 speedup on 2 GPUs

As I understand it, LC0 sends a batch of positions to the GPU for NN evaluation. The default "Minibatch size for NN inference" is 256. If this is too small, the GPU will not be fully utilised. More powerful GPUs need bigger batches to keep them busy. If the batch size is too big, search becomes less...
