Re: Checkers Solved - Chess around year 2060-2070!
http://www.nature.com/news/2007/070716/full/070716-13.html that 2060 stuff shows such an incredible lack of comprehension that it really doesn't deserve a comment at all. It is a ridiculous statement. Only down-side is that I doubt I will live long enough for the idiocy of that statement to be prov...

Re: Fruit and History Reductions
Could you please tell me about those methods? It has been some time I don't read the latest crafty's source. Are those implemented in the latest version of crafty? best regards, alvaro Source will be available soon. But simply we look at each individual move to decide whether to reduce it or not. A...

Re: Fruit and History Reductions
I do not use history in LMR decisions. It is either swamped by all my other restriction or has no obvious effect, positive or negative - although this is not based on 10k of testing data ........wow. Mine wasn't based on 10K games either. :) Each _match_ was 7500 games, and we played at least 20 ma...

Re: Checkers Solved - Chess around year 2060-2070!
Knowing that advances in computing speed are not linear, isn't it at least plausible that with distributed computing in, say, 50 years solving chess could be achieved? If you somehow believe that computers of 50 years in the future will be able to compute about 2^120 times faster than todays comput...

Re: Checkers Solved - Chess around year 2060-2070!
Simply not possible with any conceivable approach. More chess positions than atoms in the universe, by a _large_ margin. Even using quantum states to store multiple bits per atom would not be possible as there are not enough states. It is not at all obvious that you need to inspect every possible c...
