Re: Elements of the ULTIMATE Chess GUI?

Added an organized summary with a few other elements of my own. - CROSS PLATFORM COMPATIBLE - OPEN SOURCE - LIGHTWEIGHT (on hardware resources) - ATTRACTIVE INTERFACE Board Usage - Allow dragging of pieces and point and click - Highlight previous move - Show all possible moves of clicked piece (togg...

Re: Lc0 - macOS binary requested

Hi Stepphen Wolf, Compiling Lc0 was initially quite difficult in previous versions, and required a decent amount of modifications, but that is no longer true; However, this does assume you have downloaded the required dependencies. Assuming you have nothing, you'll first need to install xcode (from ...

Re: Sapeli 1.0 - New chess engine

Hi JohnWoe,

I only had to change one line to be able to compile on MacOS.
Sapeli.c, Line 2250: #ifdef _WIN32

Otherwise works great. Nice work!

Re: Middlegame positional test-suite

Stockfish finds this for me in about a minute using ten threads. It pretty well sticks with it and seems to be clearly best. 1r3bk1/rnR2p1p/pp2pnp1/3p4/3P4/1P2PB1P/P2BNPP1/R5K1 w - - acd 40; acs 433; bm a4; c3 "a4"; cce 0; ce 45; id "midgames.210"; pm a4; pv a4 Raa8 Kf1 h5 Rc2 a5 Nf4 Nd6 Nd3 Rc8 Ra...

Re: Middlegame positional test-suite

Hi Kai, Nice set of positions. Thank you for positing / sharing. 260 of the positions from both the opening and midgame positional suites, were not found in an epd database I have been collecting; Of these 260, the following 8 positions are not solved within 100s by Stockfish 10, Xiphos 0.5, Etherea...

Re: New 11258 distilled networks released.

48x5 and 120x10 https://github.com/dkappe/leela-chess-weights/wiki/Distilled-Networks The smaller end may work well on Raspberry Pi, the higher end is intended for CPU. Can you define distilled networks? Does this mean you are testing networks for best performance on cpu only (open blas backend)?

Re: Chess Tools

Hi Ferdy, I tested the script, and ran into an issue with utf-8 encoding, so I altered the code, importing codecs in order to ignore utf-8 related errors: import argparse import codecs VERSION = 'v0.1.0' def main(): parser = argparse.ArgumentParser(prog='Identical epd remover {}'.format(VERSION)) pa...

Re: Chess Tools

I have a database that I store EPD records into. I parse the EPD first, using the grammar of EPD records. If the main EPD (Position + Castle rights + E.P.) has never been seen before, I simply insert it, along with all other EPD fields present. If I have seen the EPD before, I only replace null fie...

Wow That was fast.
I did not expect that. Thanks Ferdy!
I'll test it out, and see how it works.

Re: Chess Tools

Hi Ferdy, Big Fan of your work and chess tools. If this thread is still active, I would like to make a request. Recently, I have been collecting epd testsuites; however, testsuites are notoriously incestuous, meaning they almost always include identical positions often with different ids. In contra...
