Re: End of Era is there: SF is finally beaten!

How can one know whether the engines are playing on equal terms? How can you compare CPU and GPU and state you've found a balance? Nohow. There are only subjective methods to make comparison. Moreover AB engines are made basically for playing middle games and endgames. An AB engines will be banishe...

Re: Another Sting triumph

Testing it out right now with Stockfish at 100 contempt. No tablebase. It's at a billion nodes right now and still not finding it. 1.5 billion, still nil. Maybe ironically, but it does suggest a5-a6 at depth 1/1... Edit2: Still hasn't found it after 3 billion nodes. Edit3: 6.1 billion nodes later an...

Re: End of Era is there: SF is finally beaten!

I think GPU's being used for chess will be only a temporary thing as for chess a much better solution would be to use cards that are specifically designed to do NN and nothing to do with graphics. This will probably become very common very soon and some kind of hardware equation needs to be agreed ...

Re: Chess Engine Poll

Stockfish if I can just let it run for a while.

Stockfish in late/mid-late game

Otherwise in the opening game Leela. (provided strong GPU)

Re: Komodo 12.3 MCTS 64-bit Gauntlets for CCRL 40/40

I hope they keep making 200 Elo improvements. KMCTS has zero future, absolutely none It will just be Leela from now on with others losing interest in hand-tuned engines. Other NN-engines won't pop up because training requires too many resources for a single or few people. This is the end of compute...

Re: Stockfish 180113 - Initial position until depth 70

I do not see how stockfish's depth is relevant for solving chess. Stockfish is not generated to solve chess and cannot do it. Stockfish has wrong pruning based on hash tables because it does not store all the position in the hash and may get a hash collision so it may report a wrong score. I think ...

Re: Stockfish 180113 - Initial position until depth 70

Seems like the required nodes for Stockfish to reach the next depth stops following the log curve after 65. I wonder if it is because it has reached endgame (around 65) and the good/bad choices become more obvious so the branching factor becomes smaller. If that's the case, then weakly solving chess...

I would like to test the stockfish cluster version. https://github.com/official-stockfish/S ... ee/cluster
Can someone provide an .exe file?
Are you going to let two Clusterfishes battle it out until depth 70?
