Re: Chess engine on ASIC bitcoin miner?

... Surely a simple MTCS evaluation should be possible on it. What leads you to this conclusion? Quote from https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/ASIC "Note that Bitcoin ASIC chips generally can only be used for Bitcoin mining." -- Srdja But how efficient would trying to emulate code on it? It can run calcula...

Re: chess programming - predictions for the next 5 years

I think if ( when , looking at GPU development vs CPU development. And dev of Lc0 compared to sf) Leela starts beating SF with GPUs, the developers should start focusing on turning Lc0 into the strongest CPU engine too. So hardware is truly apples to apples. Then maybe if people are willing to spend...

Re: How powerful is the Queen compared to 2 Rooks ?

There have been plenty of genetic algorithm car games where the first few cars were just random. Depending on the settings sometimes without tires even. example: https://rednuht.org/genetic_walkers/ And after a few (sometimes 1) generations you will be stuck with serviceable cars. And then they will...

Re: 128 CPU Stockfish Cluster Comments.

If some billionaire was willing to waste all his money on dedicated Stockfish 10 ASICs.
Then the cluster could easily be blown away.

4 billion nps is still very impressive though.

Chess engine on ASIC bitcoin miner?

Is practical?

Results in chess and go were much more impressive to me. Maybe because I always knew that computer can "click his mouse" faster than any human. They restrict AI's action per minute for fair play with human. There is details discussion in reddit. Afaik, human did 450 APM(action per minute) and AI di...

Nice result for rofChade, just under 3000 though. Getting there with the next version will be one of the good intentions for 2019.

Thanks for testing and a Happy New Year!
Great work!

And congratulations with beating Fizbo 2 in the TCEC Cup.

That's the spirit.

In 2020 we'll be able to power Stockfish with an IBM Power10 cluster of 12 CPUs.

Re: " End of an Era" is coming?

Not sure who is responsible for LC0, but holy crap ... what an incredible achievement! I would have never thought it would be possible to even be in the top 50 engines a few months back! Also what a monster SF has become! It seems like only recently where SF was slowly climbing the engine ladder an...
