Re: Hannibal 1.5 release

Two new binaries have been added, one for 32 bit Windows XP, and one for 64 bit Windows XP. Anyone using an older operating system that has been having trouble running Hannibal should download Hannibal again and try those new binaries.

Re: Hannibal 1.5 release

We have a new compile for x32 and x64 Windows XP we will release shortly. Hopefully this will address the issues folks are experiencing on some of the older windows operating systems. We are also looking into a linux and macintosh compile, though we expect that will take longer.

Re: Hannibal 1.5 release

Anyone using Hannibal with ponder on, please send me a message about your experience (how well it works, what interface you are using, and if there is a problem ideally any games or debugging information you might have). I have had one person note some odd behavior in a series of games with ponder o...

Re: Hannibal 1.5 release

Than you SO MUCH! It is too much if I ask for "Windows 64 old computers" binaries? The current compile doesn't work in old systems ... An interesting issue. We switched to a new threading approach that requires use of a newer compiler, and there seem to be some side effects of the process such as o...

Re: Hannibal 1.5 release

Glad to hear it David. Hopefully your small sample is representational of our elo progress. Your comments on Hannibal's style are particularly appreciated. Given where our engine falls in the elo pecking order, and the likelihood we will climb to the top of the pack given the amount of time Edsel an...

Re: Hannibal 1.5 release

Thanks, Sam and Edsel. That was long awaited. Yes, all my fault. Edsel did a lot of good work improving SMP and reworking our code to give us a much stronger base to develop from in the future, while I spent a good year just focussed on work/family and only helping a little here and there with test...

Re: Invasion of TOP Engines!

I am hesitant to give a number, though I will say the new version is "noticeably better". I will say in my own testing the longer the time control and the more cores available, the better Hannibal1.5 does compared to Hannibal 1.4. -Sam Hi there, I have enough to do for the next 6 weeks. That is fant...
