Re: Rybka not considered best by rival programmers?

As they only mention the WCCC as being the right tournament to evaluate the rankings in the chess computer world, the problem is already solved: Rybka is the 2007 champion :-)

Re: OT: Checkers is solved!

One Jump Ahead is indeed a superb book. I have read it at least 5 times by now. Congrats to Jonathan Schaeffer for this milestone! He started the project somehwere around 1989 and the first chapter in his book is called 'This is going to be easy'. So, if an 'easy' game like checkers takes 18 years t...

Re: Hiarcs not everybody's cup of tea?

My Crabtree all-time favourite is his version of the 'long distance duck'. Thye needed this duck to take the invasion plans to London. What Crabtree made of 'duck', well, I leave that to your imagination :-)

Re: Hiarcs not everybody's cup of tea?

Hi Tony,

Never seen 'Allo Allo' with the French officer Crabtree, crippling the English language!? You should take a look, it is really funny.

BTW, I have some bad nose for you: Hiarcs will drip half a pint today

Good luck in the remaining 3 rounds!

Re: Hiarcs not everybody's cup of tea?

Harvey,

Forgot to mention: 'Everybody's cup of tea' is written by Rik Mayall and Ade Edmonson. It is not a big success, though. After 1.e4 it smashes you in the face, trying to win by KO....

Best wishes, Jeroen
