Re: Question about 3rd repetition rule and king castle condi

In chess, in order for a position to be considered the same, each player must have the same set of legal moves each time, including the possible rights to castle and capture en passant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threefold_repetition Note that turn to move must also be the same. In the twentieth...

Re: Dragon Yugoslav 12...Qe8!?

What do you suggest instead? Carlsen likes to play a6 (the Dragondorf) and wiki suggests Re8 but neither of those look particularly good to me. At least Qe8 gives black some drawing chances.

Re: The Duras

Interesting games. So how about a couple more. [d] rnbqkbnr/8/8/PPPPPPPP/pppppppp/8/8/RNBQKBNR w KQkq - 0 1 White has a big advantage in this crazy starting position but I think that black has just about enough resources to hold the draw. I also think that white should play the Morra gambit a bit m...

Re: The Duras

You mean Jack Lad, right? Why do you imagine that Gerold would mean me? So far we have concluded that the McMad gambit and the Duras are not good defences for black in serious slow games and are both probably unsound - however there may still be a place for them in blitz. We have also concluded tha...

Re: The Duras

Of course you won't pay any attention to what I say unless it offends you in some way. I do pay attention to what you say but I still want to hear what Martin has to say for himself on this subject. Well, I'll oblige you. I told Martin not to play Kf2 as he was risking the win! He didn't listen. I ...

Re: The Duras

I am not convinced that it was a draw. I thought my A pawn should be able to win eventually but I could be wrong. I did not think it would be easy for you at the very least. A passed pawn is a passed pawn. :o) Thanks for explaining and you would have still had a small advantage but not quite enough...
