correspondence players wrongly trusted human moves

15.Nc1 is a human move and probably the first mistake of white in the following game https://www.iccf.com/event?id=7670 Note that statistics for 15.Nc1 is bad but humans often played that move. I believe that trusting human moves and ignoring statistics about results that seem to be what part of the...

Re: a strange analysis by stockfish

Here is the full game when I guess that I was objectively losing but saved a draw game is from the following tournament https://www.iccf.com/event?id=7670 [Event "?"] [Site "?"] [Date "2005.10.03"] [Round "?"] [White "Alfonsas Kupsys"] [Black "Uri Blass"] [Result "*"] [BlackElo "2400"] [ECO "E12"] [...

a strange analysis by stockfish

I analyze one of my old correspondence games and I do not understand how can stockfish see main line as 55.Rb7 Bc4 56.Rb6+ Be6 without returning a draw score. I can understand that it may be better not to evaluate repetitions as a draw if we are talking about reptition of old positions of the game b...

Re: Out of the Kai 450 positions, 99 not found by SF

I am curious. You are an experienced ICCF player, a GM if I am not wrong. You should know a lot about these things. Really, would you rely on Stockfish long back and forth analysis in the openings? Would you rely on Rybka 3? On Fritz 7? When you started to trust regular engines in the openings? I r...

Re: Retrospect Match: Rebel 6 (1994) - Stockfish (2014)

I think that the point was to play against the top programs of their time.

Rebel6 was a top program in 1994
Rebel12 was not a top program when it appeared.

Re: Out of the Kai 450 positions, 99 not found by SF

I think that it may be interesting if somebody throw away all opening theory and replace it with stockfish analysis with a lot of computer time and see if other books can beat this book. Yes, I maybe will do such a thing in 2 LTC games. Lc0 with "bignet", which seems to agree by far the most with t...

Re: Out of the Kai 450 positions, 99 not found by SF

<snipped> What is so bad about openings and humans? Most of opening theory to our days is built by humans, engines' contribution is small and mostly came with "tricks", and often in messy positions. I think you just imply that we can throw away all opening theory and replace it with Stockfish analy...

Re: Retrospect Match: Rebel 6 (1994) - Stockfish (2014)

I wonder if you use default contempt for stockfish because I think that it may be better to use the maximal value of contempt to help stockfish to win 100-0

Re: Out of the Kai 450 positions, 99 not found by SF

I think that if we claim that stockfish does not find the right move then we need some evidence that the move we claim to be better is really the better move(for example some tree that if we go forward and backward in the tree stockfish can learn to play the right move).
