Re: SF McBrain v2.7 Release schedule for this Friday 9/1/20

Thanks in advance for your continued efforts to improve McBrain! I especially like the Elo limiting capability that is much more refined than just the standard Stockfish "strength" UCI parameter. I look forward to downloading the newest version in about 36 hours!

Re: Arena - how to have it use all cores ?

Thanks for your response. When I go to the engine configuration (ctrl-1) there is no field/options for changing the Threads ?? Really strange.... I've not seen that before. If you right click the mouse while the cursor is inside the Stockfish analysis output window, that is another way to bring up ...

Re: Arena - how to have it use all cores ?

Hello, I just installed Arena and wanted to test Stockfish. It however doesn't seem to use more than half of a core. How to I have it use all cores of my computer? Thanks for your help. I'm not quite sure how an engine would use only half of a core, but here is one way to make sure your engine is u...

Add 1.a3, 1.h3, 1.h4, 1.g4 and 1.f3 into that lot as well.
+1 again!

Re: TCEC Season 10 announced

I hate to state the obvious, and all this is not new, but... What is the benefit of having a 44-core machine rather than a 24-core machine? 15 Elo, perhaps? It's not only that engines do not play significantly better - I'm sure many play worse with 44 cores. (And the developers have little chance o...

Re: Ipad vs Android

I am now at about 3'800 with my iPad Pro 10.5 I don't think changed the engine but more about how it counts/display the kn/s. I am still a little questioning myself why analyze this, chess studio and SmallFish all say using SF8 but all seem to have different output/analysis results. SmallFish previ...
