Re: Engines ELO disparity

Kurt You must be blessed with some kind of uncanny power to know in advance just how strong a new engine will be before it is even tested, at least that is the impression you are leaving here. With any new chess engine you can never tell if the engine will be rated at 1600 or 2700 ELO. The only way ...

Re: To Moderation - personal attacks on Vas

For the record then - are you accusing Vas of being a liar when he says Rybka is 100% original source code ? If he says Rybka 1 has no fruit code whatsoever, then I would certainly say that. If he simply says "Rybka has no fruit code" that is a different statement, since I have not personally looke...

Re: To Moderation - personal attacks on Vas

Well Alex as far as I can remember someone here decompiled both Rybka 1 and Fruit and found only a very small amount of code duplicated in both and that was not enough to claim Rybka is a clone. You should read a lot more history in this site.

Re: CCT 12 - Discussion about dates and time control

Pete
I am a little confused or maybe I just missed something. A week or so ago a questioned about CCT10 and after a few posts the subject was changed to CCT12 (????). Did I miss something?

Re: First a God, now a scoundrel

The only thing I find wrong with your entire post is that you sound like the "thought Police" by telling people what they can think and what they should not think. In this country as well as most of the other countries of the world people can think whatever they so desire whether the thouught are go...

Re: How deep does a human think when playing chess?

I remember reading several articles about this subject over the years and to my understandng it was not the depth of search that gave them superior abilities but the knowlwdge of postional chess. their knowledge of makng stronger postions no matter how the board was configured is what gave the human...

Re: morality and legality of dowloading robbolito

This entire thread is just full of nonsense. I have followed the making and release of Rybka from its very begining. No where did Vas ever mention seeing Crafty, this is a new idea that someone threw into the soup. Right after Vas released Rybak he did in passing mention that he had seen the coding ...

Re: Paradigm shifts

Please make no mistake. Vas stood on Fruit in the beginning, but Fabien had left already and when told about Rybka he was amused and had no idea about counteractions at all. Please excuse me for interjecting a comment here but I was here when Vas first made the statement the he had examince Fruit. ...

Re: An interesting post from the Rybka forum....

Are you drunk or something :!: :?:  First of all as Matthias pointed out,I quoted a post from a member in the Rybka forum....I thought it's interesting so I just dragged it here and yes to open a can of nasty and rusty worms.... Second, what Dr.Hyatt has to do with my post :!: :?:  Now,You...
