Re: Fresh Fruits etc!

Think about you posting. First of all most chess programmers would like to see their program be rated as the worlds best. That being so then it makes no difference who holds the title now. It was not caused by Rybka taking first place, it could have been any other engine. May the best man/program wi...

Re: Computerchess @ Blogger:Prize for prediction Contest :P

A question for you. How much time is permitted for a move or the game total? I have a little chess program that makes instant plays being that it is only a one ply machine. It is Winboard compatible. I would be interested to see how it would stack up against the others.

Re: An interesting search reduction!

I found something interesting with my own chess program and that is the chose move that is finally made so far has always been in the top three moves of my move generator. I will do more testing but if this holds true even though I might generate say 40 moves I only have to test the top three and th...

Re: Longer comments by V. Rajlich

You are incorrect about reverse engineering. That still comes under the copywright laws of stealing. Take a look at the post about clones. Whether you steal the code from the authors PC or you disassemble the released code and claim is as your own you are guilty of a punishable crime if the author s...

Re: How do you define a clone?

The copywright laws state that anyone who changes at least 10% of the over all code in a program can call it new. This does not mean just renaming variables as I have seen some people do in the past. A clone is not necessarily a new stand-a-lone work but has had some changes done to it but not enoug...
