Re: An interesting post from the Rybka forum....

Excuse me butr your comments sound like some kind of self seerving BS. With all due respect the code in Rybka is private and does not have to be displayed to anyone. To do so may reveal what goes to make Rybka as strong as it now is, therefore your request is etically out of the question. I can see ...

Re: Windows development

Hi James
There is a free basic compiler that will create windows compatible code and it is called 'FreeBasic'. Download it and try it for free.

Re: Anti-ChessBase Trolls - thanks for the free advertising!

You are juat a jealous peon because the developers of Fritz give and release their program to the Arena people as well as information about future plans. Get over it. And for your information and I hope your brain is large enough to handle it the difference between Arena and Chessbase is that Arena ...

Re: For Clones we dont need private police but Good logic

Hello Chris If Rolf is wrong and you claim that there is another program that is stronger than Rybka then why don't you name it instead of just blowing hot air and demeaning a fellow member. Although the quote is not exactly the right fit. Put your money where you mouth is" in a round about way fits...

Robert
I have heard of GPL but only as it applies to chess. Is it an amendant to the Nations copyright laws? If not then I don't know how well it would stand up in a court of law.

Re: For Clones we dont need private police but Good logic

a complete 10% change in the software to declare it a new program. And? Then you have a "new program" but still broke copyright laws... These were the copyright laws that I was quoting. The company I worked for wrote an accounting package that ran citys and counties across the nation. It normally s...

Re: For Clones we dont need private police but Good logic

Hi fellas I was always under the impressiion that the software laws in this country stated that it took a complete 10% change in the software to declare it a new program. That would mean if a piece of software contained 30,000 lines of code to be able to claim a new program with sould take 3,000 new...

Re: SOMA

It sounds to me that SOMA is very much like what the Spaklins used in their very first chess program, Sargon. It was a static exchange evaluator and they published it in thier book. It is basically what I used in my first chess program which was a one ply search only program although I did not go as...

Re: Clone Warning again and again

I agree with you on this one Fern. With hundreds of source codes available and hundreds of ideas on searching and evaluations it sounds very reasonable to find programs that play identical games even though theywere not clones in the first place and the authors may have never seen the other persons ...
