My choice

I chose my path. After all the discussions on the subject Rybka x Ippo, I decided to give credit to who deserves one. I made a donation to the development of Houdini, I'm not trying to influence anyone to do the same, I'm wanting that you know by me, and not by others. The truth must be told, even i...

Bitboard

Why is so difficult for programmers to implement bitboards? With this implementation, the programs would benefit from 64 bits. High-level programs that I think do not use bitboards: Shredder, Hiarcs, Fritz.

Re: Lev Alburt comments

It would be interesting to know which computer was used in the game.
It would be a 486 33 processor or maybe a i7 980X?
Regardless, he showed only one game, I wish he would show at least 100 games.

Re: What the computer chess community needs to decide

After a year of discussions about Rybka 3 x Ippolitto, I believe that there is only one way to see the truth, Vas show the code of Rybka 3.

Re: which program is best in endgames

I wonder if somebody did endgame tests between top programs to test which program is best in that stage. I know that houdini is better than stockfish or critter but it is not clear to me that houdini is best in all stages of the games and it is possible that a program is number 1 because it is bett...

Re: which program is best in endgames

I performed a more extensive endgame testing at short time control with 50 initial positions (+reversed colours). Even if the same position was played several times, there are no two identical games, the randomness is very high. Each engine 1,600 games: Program Score % Av.Op. Elo + - Draws 1 Houdin...

Re: How does Mr. Rajlich know the Ippolit series is Rybka 3?

Larry, As the guy who came up with the values for every term in the eval of Rybka 3 (which I most certainly saved), it was immediately clear to me from the start that the evals in the Ippo series, whether taken from the code or from actual evals in real positions, were far too close to my values to...

Re: Draft of Manifesto

What do you think about plagiarism in music? Just curious. Now, if we take Brahm's 1st symphony (last part) and say that it's a Beethoven derivative, it would be totally wrong. As Brahms said "every idiot can hear this Beethoven theme" (or similar). There is a specific meaning to that theme. As for...

Re: A Very Novel Idea Concerning Vas- BE FAIR

And bother me too. Two people that are being very badly treated here: Vas and Graham. Poor Graham. Someone who calls others liar, idiot or even wishes someones death shouldn't complain when others strike back. There is a limit to everything. If this limit is reached it is obvious that the person lo...
