Re: How many elo do ponder equals to

Engine A ponder while engine B doesn't. Advantage +/- 50 elo. Doubling is worth more. Now the question is if it's likely engine A equalize engine B in fast time formats or who got the upper hand. The effectiveness of ponder is probably higher in shorter time controls than in longer. Do you put your...

I can actually test this on my 12 core machine - I believe a decisive advantage will got the 8 core on the simple basis everty search counts - whereas pondering will have some wasted searches , maybe not many with like engines , but enough to be the difference maker. Will modify the threads to be 6...

Re: McCain X4 Release Final

Mike, Is there somewhere I can read about the differences in the binary compiles for windows? Chief Functionally, they are all the same. The question for you are with binaries will work on your CPU and as well which is the fastest for your machine. They may not all work and to determine which one i...

Re: link to the 1800s

I'm writing a new chess openings book for NIC, full of the latest games thru Norway 2019, with analysis by Komodo and Lc0. When I come to the Hanham defense (variation of Philidor's defense), I cite a game in which Mr. Hanham, a top player of the Steinitz era, played his defense in 1898, losing to ...

Re: Arasan test suite - draft version

This is another one I have been looking at recently - I don't think this is in the set I posted: 8/4k3/8/1P2b1PP/8/3pQ3/5PK1/3q4 b - - bm Ke6; c0 "Arasan-acgs, ICC 2019"; 8/4k3/8/1P2b1PP/8/3pQ3/5PK1/3q4 b - - Stockfish 10 and Houdini 6 get this pretty rapidly at a depth under 30 or so, but my engin...
