Re: Strelka -- Open source

but final resolution depends on Fabian, I think Moreso Vasik. I don't get why you keep punting the "Fabian Boat". Tell me how Fabian could decide if Vasik's source should be released? Christopher IF Fabien says Rybka has too much of Fruit in it, then it has to be GPL-ed, hasn't it? Do you agree? I ...

Re: Strelka -- Open source

Consider the reverse engineering of several DOS clones like DR-DOS. The source code for MS-DOS was never made available. So engineers did debugging traces and wrote down an API specification. Using this API, engineers wrote another version of DOS that worked exactly the same as MS-DOS. There was no...

Re: Strelka -- Open source

Ask from Rybka´s author the Rybka 1.0 beta´s evaluation function, and compare them. Yes, Vas will be happy to show his evaluation functions to the public... If you are interested in Vas' opinion: He say's Strelka is a Clone. Really everything is said in this matter. We are not interested in what X ...

Re: Strelka -- Open source

One tables cannot make strelka = rybka 1.0 beta. I believe that rybka 1.0 based on fruit code. If you think a human would have written Strelka the way it is from scratch, you really need to have a vivid imagination. And....its not one table.....it more than one. I dont see the point in discussing t...

Re: Strelka -- Open source

It seems Bright is a little stronger than Belka. And what to say now? That Bright is a clone of a newer Rybka´s version ? [Event "Computer chess game"] [Site "XP"] [Date "2007.12.31"] [Round "?"] [White "Belka 1.8.13"] [Black "Bright 0.2c"] [Result "0-1"] [ECO "D38"] [Opening "QGD"] [Time "19:12:05"...

Re: Strelka -- Open source

Yes. Decompiling is using it, but using it is not always decompiling. The act of de-compilation (disassembly) is not necessarily illegal, the same way converting the "exe" to a "wav" file and then playing it out through your speakers isn't. However, disassembly with the intent to obtain intellectua...
