Re: Fritz 17

What is the difference between "Fritz17Setup_x64" and "Fritz17Setup_Win10" ? Both list as 64-bit on installation. Having both alternatives is :? I run on Windows 10 64-bit. I had the same wondering myself. I went with Win10 installation which was x64 too. Maybe the "Fritz17Setup_x64" is just for pr...

Re: Fritz 17

Thx for speedy response, Graham and Ozymandias. Sorry but I have no idea what fp16 is. Not asking for a lengthy explanation; just a quick pointer for if I buy this thing. Cheers.... But is the NN engine all you care about, not the Fritz17 AB engine? If that's the case, it's not worth buying. Why no...

Re: Fritz 17

Let's Check database has now support for 7-piece syzygy support. It list won endgames (from white perspective) as "1" and win for black as "-1" Nalimov is still there if 6 pieces remain on the board. Yeah i'm going to buy Fritz 17. Is there a download (for full DVD, databases, opening books, engine...

Re: Hard pawn endgame

Nice long zugzwang. Current Stockfish has trouble with that. Well not that big trouble :D (and i put it by mistake just 4 GB hash so it would be faster with more) Analysis by Stockfish 021119 64 POPCNT: 1.Kf4-e3 Kd5-c4 2.Ke3-d2 a5-a4 3.Kd2-c1 Kc4-b5 4.Kc1-d1 Kb5-c4 5.Kd1-d2 g7-g6 6.Kd2-c1 Kc4-d5 7....

Re: LCZero blunders in TCEC cup 4

LC0 doesn't choose Qc6 either for my setup and the score difference is pretty big (0.76). Yes, indeed. What was odd was that my Setup didn't even look ONCE at Qc6 ! Assuming that TCEC has at least half-decent GPUs, this is quite surprising. I have tried more than 10 times with the parameters TCEC u...

Re: Fairy-Stockfish 10.3 released

OK, I made an attempt. I could not reproduce the case where Windows actually informs me through a popup that WinBoard had crashed. But when I tried to load Fairy-Stockfish 10.3, WinBoard was just hanging waiting for the engine to be loaded. It was still sensitive to a 'quit' signal, though. When I ...

Re: Fairy-Stockfish 10.3 released

2nd game went more normal even though Fairy Stockfish largeboard 10.3 was spending much more time than 10.2 but it didn't lose on time this time. I don't know if it would lose and was saved by the draw. Game was SF Fairy 10.2 8 cores versus SF Fairy 10.3 8 cores(the reverse of 1st game with the time...

Re: Fairy-Stockfish 10.3 released

I doubt that there is a problem with time management, since the time management did not change between 10.2 and 10.3. Furthermore, on variantfishtest and locally I can let it play thousands of games in dozens of variants (including capablanca) with cutechess GUI and CLI without any time losses. Tha...

Re: Fairy-Stockfish 10.3 released

...... Fairy Stockfish largeboard 10.3 works now on Winboard with HGM's modification but there is another problem now. Fairy Stockfish largeboard 10.3 lost on time in a 5'+3"(5 minutes+3 seconds/move) game. In fact it didn't obey the time control at all! It was a Capablanca random Chess game with a...
