Re: ComputerChess is bad for you !!

There is nothing important in this position, and endgame table bases have already proved that. Sorry, but there are no 7 man tablebase files with pawns constructed. There are no chess engines I know of that have resolved it either, by elimation of chessmen. There is no proof for this position, only...

Re: 10th aniversery of deep blue win: interesting news artic

If you were more into programming, you would already know the answer to that question. It is called "non-determinism". You can give a position to a parallel search program, and give it the same tim limit, and it might (or might not) find the same best move. I have posted several such positions here...

Re: Strelka will be open-source?

Computer chess is not compatible with "truly vulnerable personalities". I suggest that if it is the case, then in his own interest he should find another hobby. Oh, yes, this is a game for really brutal persons! Probaly like you )) Computer-Chess-Forum journey is for very hardy people! If you want ...

Re: Some axioms about STRELKA

Hi all ! ... 3.Juri Osipov-its brilliant author-it's now a sort of Jesus Christ in computer chess; ... I would award this one the most ridiculous statement of the year. +1 vote from me. :D But wait, the year is not over, this competition is still open. Yes we are looking forward for new more ridicu...

Re: "SMIRF".......Snifff.......Coff coff

Fernando, obviously you have been able to install, use and experience SMIRF's donationware release without any problem. But just that is, for what that introducing release has been intended for. I"m not quite sure he played Smirf without the depth limitation Smirf has, if you don't enter the licens...

Re: The Ultimate Computer Chess Challenge !?!?

Uri, please be serious. I guess you know also CCRL and CEGT ratings, not only SSDF. Junior is a good, interesting and respectable engine! - But it has always been overestimated because of misleading ICGA tournament results. It is a shame that the loser wil receive 40,000 $ while stronger engines li...

Re: Learn Chinese Chess XiangQi, it is fun and NOT hard to l

You learn it and you play it. Ta taa.. Now that I know how to move the pieces I can NOT find anybody to play against, I will have to buy a decent XiangQi program to play a little, or probably download a very weak XiangQi program like this one: http://www.jcraner.com/qianhong/ You can find some play...
