Re: OT: Checkers is solved!

It is not important news because checkers 8*8 is considered too simple and this is the reason that people play checkers in board that is 10*10 I suspect that practically checkers 8*8 was solved many years ago in the meaning that every comp-comp game between top prgrams was drawn. Yes more or less. ...

Re: Question....

If it was not intentional, he should change the name of his engine as soon as he is informed. Anything that has the "Genius" word in his name and is a chess engine is a clear hijacking of a famous existing work by Richard Lang. I can't believe a court would decide otherwise. Suppose i write a Chess...

Re: Open Letter & $100,000 challenge to FIDE

Hi, I'm making a $100,000 challenge (together with an open letter) to FIDE, for a match between Rybka and the winner of FIDE's upcoming 'Ultimate Computer Chess Challenge 2007'. More info is here: http://www.rybkachess.com/docs/ChallengeToFIDE.htm What i don't understand is this: 1) You say: "with ...

Is Strelka the strongest new engine in computer chess history?
No since when Rybka appeared, it was beating Toga easily.....

Re: Deep Sjeng a weak commercial program

<sarcastic mode> Why do you restrict this to Sjeng or Glaurung? The strongest free engine is Rybka 1.0 beta. By your reasoning everything that is rated lower is not worth buying. So there are only 2 programs that are worth buying: Rybka 2.3 and Hiarcs 11.1. Once you have purchased Rybka, WTF are yo...

Re: ComputerChess is bad for you !!

Neither Uri nor I have ever said we did not think it was a draw. Both of us agree that (almost certainly) it is. With Robin's Freezer analysis, the uncertainty is very, very low. The distinction that is made here is between proof and acceptance. Almost all mathematicians accept the Riemann hypothes...

Re: Elostat

What start rating should be used when running Elostat 2400 or 2650. Thanks George It doesn't matter at all! You can put 0 or 100 or anything as starting ELO. What matters is the rating difference between 2 opponents and not the rating ratio. That means: Player A -> 2780 ELO Player B -> 2640 ELO is ...

Re: ComputerChess is bad for you !!

There is nothing important in this position, and endgame table bases have already proved that. Sorry, but there are no 7 man tablebase files with pawns constructed. There are no chess engines I know of that have resolved it either, by elimation of chessmen. There is no proof for this position, only...
