Re: Testposition and HUGE fail high from Stockfish!!

Not sure why this is surprising. After all, White is about a Queen ahead in material. So, of course, until the search discovers the mate for Black, the evaluation will be very much in favor of White. It's not surprising i'm just saying it's rare to see such big differences, so i'm asking about any ...

Testposition and HUGE fail high from Stockfish!!

In this interesting Lyudmil position, Stockfish has a huge fail high and went from +10.33 (a win for white) to -mate in 12 (black mates in 12). It had a >+8.00 eval until it found the winning move for about 1.5 billion nodes and depth 32(not too easy to get great depth in this). How other engines do...

Re: Lc0 v0.17.0-rc1 egt test

I seem to be misunderstanding something. How come all the engines with egt aren't getting all the problems right? These are all tablebase positions so they should essentially just be returning endgame table-base entries directly? The tested positions themselves aren't tablebase positions, i.e. they...

Re: Lc0 v0.17.0-rc1 egt test

Run Lco on ending test positions, 4 and 5 men. There is improvement in using syzygy, but overall it seems it is still too low considering that it is already using egt and the test has only 1 best move, if it is a draw all other moves loses and if it is a win all other moves would just draw or lose....

Re: Leela solves the Qf6+!!

Leela finds the Qf6+!! move!!!!!! WTF??   INSTANTLY. By its eval!  Net 10815 to be accurate. I haven't tried others. I guess this is because she knows that this specific pattern of encircling the King with these specific pieces works, i can't find other explanati...

Re: Strange Lc0 TCEC performance

Watch a game of TCEC -- Leela best moves will match the opponents predictions for large chunks of the game. This is clearly misleading since this happens with all pairs of strong opponents. And yet after only 6 games in the bonus games between Leela 10520 and 10800 against Ethereal 10.81 with 6 dra...

Re: Strange Lc0 TCEC performance

Here's the rule: "Critical Engine Bugs In the case of a serious, play-limiting bug (like crashing or interface communication problems, not including losses on time) not discovered during the pre-Season testing, the engine can be updated once per Division to fix this/these bug/bugs only. If this upd...

think it's in the rules that tweaks can be made within season if a play-affecting issue is found.
No. Tweaks to the engines are not allowed.
Tweaks to the hardware for engines are. E.g lowering cores.

Re: Strange Lc0 TCEC performance

Finally they have found the issue, apparently the GPUs were severely got overheated(the case was too small and had just 1 fan for 2 GTX 1080 Ti, 500 Watt with 1 fan in a small case!) and affected in a big way nodes per second(there were even cases with 75% reduction of normal nodes per second), per...

TCEC should replay all the game played by the NN network then !
That would be a parody.
So better to stick to unfairness(to 2 NNs) than parody.
